Independent financial education for everyday Australians.
SS Traders is an independent Australian financial education platform built with one goal: to help ordinary Australians actually understand their pay, tax, and superannuation — without needing a degree in accounting or a $300/hour financial adviser.
We're not a bank. We're not a super fund. We don't sell financial products or take commissions. We build free tools and plain-English guides, and we make our calculations publicly verifiable against ATO source material.
The site was founded after a frustrating experience shared by many Australians: you accept a job offer, see your first payslip, and have no idea where 25–35% of your salary just went. The tax system isn't complicated — it just isn't explained anywhere useful. That's the gap we set out to fill.
Every tool and article on SS Traders is built around one principle: show your working. We don't just give you a number — we show you exactly how it was calculated, which ATO rules apply, and what you can do about it.
Our flagship free calculator lets any Australian worker enter their gross salary and see their complete take-home pay breakdown: income tax by bracket, Low Income Tax Offset (LITO), Medicare Levy, and 12% Super Guarantee. All figures are updated annually to match the current ATO tax year (currently 2025–26).
Unlike many calculators, ours shows you the actual tax brackets applied — not just a final number. We believe transparency matters when it comes to your money.
Our salary guide series covers 40 of Australia's most common professions across eight industries — healthcare, technology, education, finance, construction, legal, creative, and engineering. Each guide includes three salary scenarios (entry, average, senior), a full tax breakdown for each, and unique context about that profession: career progression, industry trends, and factors that affect pay.
All salary figures are drawn from a combination of SEEK, LinkedIn Salary Insights, ABS Wage Price Index data, and industry body surveys. They represent indicative ranges for Australian workers as of 2025–26.
Our blog covers the topics Australian workers actually search for: how tax brackets work, whether you need private health insurance (and the Medicare Levy Surcharge), how to check your super is being paid correctly, and how to think about investing once you understand your take-home pay. Articles are written for a general audience and reviewed annually against current ATO guidance.
All tax calculations on SS Traders use the legislated ATO rates for the 2025–26 financial year, including:
We update our tools and articles each financial year to reflect any ATO rate changes. If you spot an error or an outdated figure, we genuinely want to hear about it — see our contact page.
SS Traders does not accept sponsored content. We do not receive commissions or referral fees from any financial product, broker, super fund, or insurance company. Where we mention financial products or services (such as ETFs or brokers in our investment guides), these are included as illustrative examples only — not endorsements or recommendations.
The site is supported by display advertising. This helps us keep all tools and guides free for every Australian.
Everything on SS Traders is general financial education — it is not personalised financial advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a registered tax agent, financial planner, or ASIC-licensed adviser. Tax situations vary. The calculator and guides give you a solid starting point for understanding your finances, but for decisions involving significant money, always consult a professional.
We are not registered tax agents. We are not licensed financial advisers. We are educators.
